Agriculture and rural enterprises for nutrition and food security

The goal of this strategic theme is to empower socially marginalized and economically poor communities with sustainable livelihood through increased job opportunities from the production and marketing of agricultural and non-agricultural products.

The strategic interventions include:

Provide opportunities for young and women to gain skills and knowledge for improving agricultural practices to start up farm-based enterprises through formal and informal vocational training.

Promote off-farm enterprises by integrating smallholder farmers, youths and women into competitive value chains for boosting resilient livelihood.

Strengthen and support women-led agricultural and entrepreneurship cooperatives promoted by Sahakarya Nepal and linkages with financial institutions to access to finance for the rural enterprises and promote the sustainable livelihood among the socially marginalized and economically poor communities.

Support women and youths with agricultural seeds, technologies and equipment to improve their agricultural productions.

Improve farmers’ access to improved technologies for agricultural production, livestock rearing, value chain development and marketing.

Conduct campaigns to reform local government’s policies and assist cooperatives, community groups and CBOs to pull-up resources from the local governments for agricultural development.
